The Writing Center’s mission is to support the teaching and learning of writing on campus. Established in 2004, the center fulfills this mission through its peer tutoring program, support for General Education Writing in the Disciplines courses, and various special projects and events at AUB and beyond. Both the administration and tutors of the center are committed to research and community outreach. The Writing Center offers support to AUB students, staff, and faculty via one-on-one consultations and workshops on individual or group writing projects at any stage of development. Undergraduate and graduate students serve as tutors, working to help individuals become stronger writers in both English and Arabic. Appointments can be scheduled through the online platform:
https://aub.mywconline.com.
The Writing Center also supports faculty members through workshops on writing in different genres, small group meetings, and individual consultations. Writing Center staff collaborate with faculty members as they develop, assess, and revise courses that fulfill the General Education-mandated requirement to offer Writing in the Disciplines instructions in every major. In addition, special discussion groups organized by the tutors are also offered to read and analyze certain issues of style as related to the sense of the written texts in different genres. Workshops for programs or departments and individual consultations for faculty seeking to enhance writing assignments and activities in their courses can be scheduled by emailing the Writing Center directly at
