The Office of Student Affairs oversees student activities, athletics, counseling, accessible education, student housing, and career and placement services. It also manages university-wide operations, such as the new student orientation, student elections, and the work-study program. The office is dedicated to enhancing students’ overall well-being and create opportunities for them to enrich and broaden their educational experience.

Student Activities
The Department of Student Activities enhances the student experience beyond the classroom by offering opportunities for student development through co-curricular activities that complement academic programs at AUB. The Department of Student Activities strives to enrich students’ intellectual, ethical, and social development by engaging them in university and community events and providing leadership opportunities. Our aim is to foster holistic student development. Students can join clubs, societies, student government, student publications, the AUB Outdoors Festival, and other major student-led events.
All student activities, whether on or off campus, must be approved by the Department of Student Activities and the Dean of Student Affairs. The department facilitates these activities and ensures that students follow proper event-planning procedures. West Hall building is considered the student hub, hosting most student activities as well as various AUB events sponsored by faculties, departments, centers, and alumni.

Charles Hostler Student Center (CHSC)
The university offers a wide range of sports, fitness, and recreational programs through its Athletics Department. The Charles W. Hostler Student Center (CHSC) serves as the hub for athletics, recreation, and wellness on campus.
CHSC is comprised of three buildings. Located on the second floor of the pool building and overlooking the Corniche is a 6-lane semi-Olympic swimming pool fully equipped for swimming, jumping, and water polo competitions. Adjacent to the pool building, the official-size greenfield is surfaced with artificial turf and surrounded by a 6-lane, 400-meter track.
The gymnasium building houses three full-size multipurpose courts for basketball, volleyball, handball, futsal, badminton, and table tennis. It also hosts two annual engineering competitions in robotics and civil design. Additional activities include two free-weight areas, two cardiovascular training zones, a stretching area, an activity room for fitness classes, yoga, dance, martial arts, and two squash courts.
The third building features a 280-seat auditorium and a rooftop amphitheater with natural grass terraces. The auditorium hosts student classes, exams, TED talks, conventions, and other events.
During the summer, AUB opens its private beach for the community to enjoy swimming and recreation. The facilities include a shallow pool for children and a beach volleyball court, providing a relaxing environment by the crystal blue waters.
Student-athletes may join one or more of AUB’s 26 varsity teams, collectively known as the AUB Phoenix. In fall 2025-26, 1,906 students registered for tryouts and 532 in the spring tryouts. 515 were selected in the fall. Since 2023, AUB has been competing in the Federation Sportive Universitaire du Liban (FSUL) which organizes collegial sports competitions for 24 universities across Lebanon.
In Addition, AUB will participate in two main events: the 27th Panathlon Club University, PCU University Games 2026 in Antwerp, Belgium and the World Inter-Universities Conference WIUC 2026 in Rome, Italy.
AUB Athletics will award three full tuition-free scholarships to highly distinguished athletes for the years 2026-27, along with several partial scholarships. The President’s Athletic Scholarship and the Distinguished Athlete Scholarship Award recognize student-athletes who have made significant contributions to their respective sports. Partial athletic scholarships are also available based on athletic performance and achievements during the season.

Student Housing
AUB is one of the few residential universities in the Middle East offering a vibrant campus environment where extracurricular activities thrive and strong communities flourish.
Priority for housing is given to undergraduate applicants, starting with freshman students (eligibility criteria available on the Student Housing homepage).
Students need to apply via AUBsis. Application steps can be found under Important Housing Information on the Student Housing website:
www.aub.edu.lb/sao/housing/Pages/default.aspx. Students are strongly encouraged to apply as soon as the application portal is open, as spaces are in high demand.
Residence Halls
AUB has eight student residence halls: six for women and two for men. All halls are equipped with heating, air-conditioning, hot water, washing machines, dryers, irons, wireless internet, and vending machines with snacks and soft drinks. Rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, chair, and closet.
- Women’s Residence Halls: Four are located on lower campus overlooking the Mediterranean, one is located on upper campus, and one off-campus dorm is in the heart of Hamra, within short walking distance of campus.
- Men’s Residence Halls: Both are located in the west part of upper campus, overlooking the splendid Mediterranean Sea and close to Bliss Street with its abundance of shops.
Each hall features a reception area, a shared kitchen, a social lobby, and laundry facilities.

Career Hub
The Career Hub at AUB empowers students and alumni to navigate and achieve their career goals through personalized guidance, innovative professional development resources, strong industry connections, and soft skills training. It prepares students for the workplace and supports a smooth transition from student life to professional careers.
The Career Hub advances AUB’s institutional mission of graduating “individuals committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.”
The Career Hub strives to promote:
Career exploration and decision-making by helping students navigate career options and develop effective planning skills through large-scale events and individual career guidance meetings.
Skill development by equipping students with competencies valued by employers and industry professionals, enhancing their professional image through in-house and industry-led career workshops, as well as one-on-one sessions.
Experiential learning by partnering with industry to offer students internships, job shadowing opportunities, and corporate visits that allow them to ‘learn through doing.’ This hands-on approach encourages discovery, exploration, and reflection, better preparing students for future careers.
Career placement by assisting AUB students and graduates in securing full-time employment, internships, and part-time jobs. We also organize on-campus and virtual events that connect students and alumni with employers for career development and placement purposes.
Employer development by fostering and maintaining long-term relationships between AUB and employers at both the local and regional levels.
Major Career events by hosting the annual Career Fair each spring, along with multiple recruitment events throughout the year. These events provide students with opportunities to network with top employers, explore career paths, and secure suitable jobs.

Work-Study Program
The Office of Student Affairs coordinates an extensive work-study program that offers on-campus employment opportunities for eligible full-time undergraduate and graduate students in good academic standing. The program enables students to work with AUB faculty and staff, fostering stronger connections within the university community.
Students can apply through AUBsis within the deadlines announced by the Office of Student Affairs. Placements are determined based on the date of application, demand, qualifications, and job availability. Students may work up to 80 hours per month during the fall and spring terms, and up to 60 hours per month during the summer term.
Each year, more than 700 students participate in the program, gaining the opportunity to contribute to their educational expenses while also developing job skills by working with faculty, administrators, and staff across campus offices and the Medical Center.

Counseling Center
The Counseling Center provides a supportive environment and ensures access to quality counseling services to promote mental, psychological, and emotional well-being, contributing to academic success and student self-actualization. It addresses the mental health needs of the university community while upholding students’ right to mental health in an engaging and tolerant environment that fosters lifelong learning, growth, and development.
Our services include individual counseling with licensed clinical psychologists, short-term therapy and crisis intervention, group counseling that encourages peer connection and shared learning, as well as workshops designed to strengthen coping skills, well-being, and academic performance. In addition, the center offers peer counseling through a structured program that trains students to provide empathetic and nonjudgmental support to their peers. We also prioritize community capacity-building by sensitizing AUB faculty and staff through awareness and training programs that deepen their understanding of student mental health and strengthen the university’s supportive network.
The Counseling Center offers short-term mental health services that are strictly confidential and free of charge for students.

Accessible Education Office: Disability Services and Learning Support
AUB is committed to fostering an accessible university community that welcomes, respects, and values individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities. In line with this mission, the Accessible Education Office (AEO), under the Office of Student Affairs, works to ensure access for students with qualified disabilities to all academic programs at AUB.
