Mission Statement

FAAH educates students in the arts in all their dimensions, believing that an understanding and appreciation of this area of human endeavor is an essential element in the formation of well-rounded individuals. To that end, the department offers courses in the studio arts, art history and music. In the case of the courses aimed at training practitioners, the goal is to produce students with the skills to create meaningful statements in art. In the case of the department’s historical and theoretical courses, it introduces students to great works of art of different cultures, and aims to equip them to deal with artworks critically, and with scholarship.
