Student Awards

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​University prizes and awards for graduating students

  • The Penrose Award is an honorary annual award given to an outstanding undergraduate in MSFEA on the basis of scholarship, character, leadership, and contribution to university life.
  • The Abdul Hadi Debs Endowment Award for Academic Excellence​ is a $1,000 endowment to a student at the graduate level who has an outstanding academic record and has demonstrated research capabilities through a paper, project, or thesis deemed by the faculty to be worthy of publication.

MS​FEA awards

  • The Dean's Award for Creative Achieve​ment is an annual honorary award given to a student in each undergraduate program who has demonstrated outstanding creativity in her/his approach to academic work in projects, problem solving, and/or laboratory and shop work.
  • The Distinguished Graduate Award is an annual honorary award made to a graduating student from each of the undergraduate majors for outstanding academic achievement, character, and contribution to the department.
  • Various awards during the IDEAS annual event
  • ​The Nicolas and Faride Moujaes Student Award in Engineering​​ is an annual award of $1,000 to graduating student(s) presenting the most innovative final year project.

Departmental awards

  • The Abdallah Darwiche Endowed Award is conferred to a group of students who submit the best final year project in the ECE department. The winning team receives a $1,000 prize. This award is intended to motivate students to showcase their best work in this field.​

  • The Areen Projects Award for Excellence In Architecture​ and Graphic Design is an annual award given to the top three final projects in architecture and graphic design (first $2,200, second $1,700, and third $1,100). The project should demonstrate: respect for and service to the community at the local, municipal, national or regional level; appropriate structural and/or practical concepts; and outstanding creativity and/or innovation.​
  • Best ECE FYP Awards 
  • The Best CEE FYP Awards
  • The CME Offshore Best Functional Project A​ward​​​​ is an annual award of $5,000 to a student​project in the electrical and computer engineering department. The metrics of this award are quality of the deliverable in terms of design and implementation, user experience, and product reliability.​
  • The Distinguished Graduate Award in Biomedical Engineering is an annual honorary award made​ ​​to a graduating master’s student in biomedical engineering in recognition of excellence in​ ​academic and research performance.
  • The Exceptional ECE FYP Awards​ is an annual award of $1,500 to four groups of graduating students in electrical and computer engineering. The award recognizes completeness, complexity, societal and ethical impact, and team work in the ​four ​areas of communication, control, hardware, and power.​
  • The Farouk W. Agha Endowed Engineering Excellence Award is an annual award of $1,000 to the student graduating with a BE degree in mechanical engineering who has received the highest average during his or her study at AUB.
  • The Fawzi W. Azar Award​ is an annual award toward tuition of $15​,000 to one or more students entering the fifth year in the architecture program based on grades in the design courses and the 4th year project.
  • The George R. Rais Architecture Award​ is an annual award for the top three students in their third year of the architecture program: first $8,000; second ​$5,000; and third $3,000.
  • The Ghazi and Maya Nourallah Endowed Innovation Award​ is conferred on an undergraduate student(s) in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). This award follows a contest between the two departments, where each year, one team (up to 3 contestants per team) will win $1000, either from the Computer Science (CMPS) department or the ECE department. ​
  • ​The Holcim Award is an annual award for the best final year project in civil and environmental engineering. It follows the LafargeHolcim 5 target issues for sustainability to evaluate and rank all submissions. First group receives $2,000, second $1,000, and third $500.​
  • The Mohamad Ali Safieddine Award for Academic Excellenceis an annual award of $1,000 to a graduating student who demonstrates high academic record and good character as per his/her professors in the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture.
  • The Murex Award​ is an annual award for students in the electrical and computer engineering department. Best Innovative Software Development Project award of $3,000 recogniz​es new ideas, concepts, methodologies and/or out of the box ideas. Best Collaborative Software Development Project award of $3,000 recognizes the team work deployed, the group spirit that was built, and the complexity of the collaboration with others across different industries, geographies, and departments. Best Software Engineering Student​​ award of $2,000 recognizes a top student who has focused on Software engineering through his/her courses, projects, internships, and research assistant assignments.​
  • The Nabil Boukhaled Endowed Excellence Award in Computing is an annual award of 500$ presented to top graduating students with very high academic achievements in Computer Engineering.
  • The Narine Bolghourjian Exemplary Engagement Endowed Award ​is offered to an undergraduate student in recognition of leadership, character, and contribution to the AUB life/community.​ The wi​nner will receive ​a $800 prize.
  • The Nehme Moujaess Awards in Landscape Architecture is an annual award of $1000 awarded to final year Landscape Architecture students whose final year project is selected by the Department as the most deserving. ​​​​
  • The Youssef M. ​Salam Civil Engineering Excellence Award​​ is an annual award of $1,000 to the student ranked first among the civil engineering graduate students.
  • The Brummana High School Cultural Society Award is given to the graduating student with the highest GPA who came to AUB from Brummana High School.
  • The WAAAUB - Abu Dhabi Chapter Student Endowed Award MSFEA Student Award is an annual award to one graduating student with the highest GPA, who graduated from a high school in Abu Dhabi.
