Economics Student Society

BACKGROUND:

The Economics Student Society (ESS) is currently home to around 100 members, most of whom are economics students. ESS aims to empower its members by bridging the gap between academia, student life, and post-graduation opportunities. The society also promotes meaningful student–faculty collaboration and gives students a voice in discussions about the department's growth.

ESS is committed to building a lasting legacy and shaping one of the strongest alumni networks of economists in Lebanon and the region - a community that supports and inspires across generations.

ACTIVITIES:

The Economics Student Society constantly organizes a wide range of activities across academic, professional, and social spheres.

On the academic side, ESS hosts initiatives such as master's panels where students meet former AUB economics graduates to learn about the master's programs they are currently pursuing or have completed. The society also hosts talks and discussions with professors which allow students to expand their economic knowledge beyond the classroom and engage with real-world applications of theory.

Professionally, ESS organizes panel discussions where students get to network with economics graduates working across a wide range of sectors, including the corporate world, the public sector, and international organizations. In addition, the society's mentorship program and CV/Cover Letter workshop guide students by offering academic and career-oriented support.

On the social side, ESS opens every academic year with its annual General Assembly, bringing together the broader community of AUB economics students. Other social events include the Economics Trivia Night, the Christmas Dinner, the Iftar, and several volunteering initiatives aimed at strengthening student engagement and fostering a sense of belonging.
