American University of Beirut

Accreditation and Reaccreditation

American University of Beirut Accreditation

The Office of the Provost serves as a liaison between the university and the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), coordinating and facilitating the respective processes for registering degree programs and maintaining institutional accreditation.

Accreditation is a voluntary process intended to strengthen and sustain the quality and integrity of a university, faculty, or program, confirming that it is worthy of public confidence. Accreditation affirms that AUB as an institution, as well as specific programs, meet or exceed international standards.

On June 27, 2019, the commission reaffirmed the university’s accreditation.

On August 25, 2022, the commission approved the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo as the university first branch campus in Pafos, Cyprus.

On February 15 and 16, 2024, AUB Mediterraneo will host the Commission Representative and Peer Evaluator Billy Khokhar, who is head of student support-STEM at the Open University to meet with students, faculty, administrators, and trustee(s) at AUB Mediterraneo, and to tour the campus, facilities, and dormitory.
