Program Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Data Science prepares students to understand, build, evaluate, and responsibly apply computational and intelligent systems in a changing world. The curriculum is an integrated experience that emphasizes hands-on learning, responsible use of AI, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ethical decision-making. Data, computation, statistical reasoning, and artificial intelligence are embedded throughout.
Students will develop strong analytical and computational foundations while applying their knowledge to real-world challenges across fields such as healthcare, business, natural language processing, environmental sciences, finance, and social sciences.
Students graduate with the technical knowledge and practical experience needed for careers in data science and AI or for advanced graduate study. They will be backed by a full research ecosystem - including a dedicated AI institute, a research computing center, and a hands-on data makerspace - built specifically to support students who want to go further than the classroom.
Program Learning Outcomes
By the time students graduate, they will be able to:
- Apply statistical and probabilistic models to analyze large datasets, extract insights, and make conclusions.
- Train state-of-the-art machine learning models to make predictions, forecast trends, and make decisions.
- Manage and process large amounts of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data efficiently, reliably, and securely.
- Design, implement, and evaluate data science solutions to problems in a variety of disciplines.
- Assess the social, ethical, and legal implications of data science practices and solutions.
- Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in producing data science solutions.
- Communicate data science solutions and findings in oral, written, and visual form to a variety of audiences.
