Every year and for the past three years, the Institute of Financial Economics (IFE) has supported the participation of a select group of outstanding graduate students enrolled in the Master’s Program in Financial Economics, as well as exceptional senior undergraduate students who intend to pursue the Master’s Degree in Financial Economics upon graduation, in the Warwick Economics Summit (WES). This support is awarded on a highly selective and merit-based basis to students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, intellectual ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a well-rounded record of engagement and accomplishment beyond the classroom. The IFE recognizes these students as strong representatives of the Institute and AUB at an international academic forum and covers their travel and accommodation expenses associated with participation in the Summit.
The WES is an annual international student-led economics conference hosted at the University of Warwick, bringing together university students, leading academics, policymakers, business leaders, and other prominent speakers to discuss major contemporary economic, financial, and public-policy challenges. Participation in the Summit would provide our Economics students with an important opportunity to complement their classroom training through direct exposure to current financial economic debates and to engage with perspectives from academia, policymaking, finance, and industry. It would also allow them to interact and network with economics students from leading universities worldwide, broaden their understanding of postgraduate study and career opportunities, and develop their analytical, communication, and professional skills. Supporting AUB ‘s Financial Economics students to attend the Summit would therefore contribute directly to their academic and professional development while increasing the international visibility of the Institute of Financial Economics and strengthening its connections with the wider global financial community.
