The following guidelines apply to filming and photographing on the AUB campus and at the medical center.
Personal Use
Filming and photographing for personal purposes must respect the privacy of others. Written consent must be secured from identifiable individuals, or from parents or guardians in the case of minors, before capturing and sharing their images or videos. Additional written consent from the Patient Affairs Office is required for patients.
Academic, Administrative, and Student-Related Activities
Filming and photographing for institutional communication purposes, including the creation of photos, videos, reels, shorts, or other digital content intended for publication on official AUB platforms or channels, requires prior authorization from the Office of Communications and, where applicable, the respective communications officers at the faculty or department, where applicable. For student activities, authorization must be granted by the Office of Student Affairs. Additional restrictions apply to filming and photographing at AUBMC due to patient confidentiality.
Filming and photographing must not disrupt operations and must comply with applicable university policies, including those related to privacy, safety, and the use of university names, logos, and branding. Filming and photographing in restricted areas is also not allowed.
All authorizations are granted for a defined scope, including purpose, timing, and location, and may be subject to conditions or modification or revoked if necessary.
Prohibited Commercial Use
Filming and photographing intended to promote, advertise, endorse, or market any external individual, organization, business, product, service, or brand not affiliated with the university is prohibited. This includes commercial advertisements, brand promotions, sponsored content, influencer content, and other marketing material.
