To ensure compliance with applicable intellectual property and copyright laws, all audiovisual screenings taking place on campus or at the medical center, or organized by a unit, student club, or other affiliated group, must follow the guidelines below before being advertised or held.
While certain screenings organized as part of the university's educational activities may qualify for exemptions under applicable law, many screenings, particularly those intended for recreational or entertainment purposes or open to audiences beyond the immediate university community, may require prior authorization from the producer or copyright holder.
Accordingly, organizers of paid screenings or screenings open to audiences beyond the AUB community are required to submit their proposed event for review by the Office of Communications sufficiently in advance.
No such screening should be advertised or held until the required review has been completed and approval has been obtained.
This process is intended to protect the university, its organizers, and participants by ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements while supporting the responsible organization of campus events.
Organizers may contact the Office of Communications at
communicati[email protected] for approvals or inquiries regarding the review process or applicable requirements.
