About
The program was designed to help develop our own talented staff and faculty into leaders of tomorrow. Twenty-four individuals coming from within the campus and medical center have enrolled in the inaugural year of the Academy. They began a learning journey in January 2023. The selected participants have formed the first cohort of the Academy’s trainees. The second cohort began their new journey in January 2024.
The AUB Next Generation Leadership Academy aims at ensuring that annually, 20-25 individuals from the campus and medical center are exposed to the foundations of university administration and leadership skills in the first year, followed by continued development through work assignments, additional education and coaching where needed. These chosen potential leaders will be nominated by the senior leadership team according to set criteria and selected from among faculty and staff across the university and medical center.
The importance and interconnected nature of this program that lasts for more than one year necessitates its oversight to be housed directly within the central administration through the Office of the Vice President for Administration and the Human Resources Department - Campus. They will work with all academic and non-academic units of the university to ensure the development and implementation of a well-coordinated program.
This high-level leadership program initiative will continue to be directed by Dr. Steve Harvey, former Dean of the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business, a widely respected mentor and expert in industrial/organizational psychology and an experienced senior academic leader.
