We accept rolling submissions for full length articles, think pieces, book reviews, and literacy narratives.
MENA related writing studies research
We are interested in timely empirical research, theory, and praxis regarding writing in the region. While submissions are published in English, we invite articles discussing the theory and instruction of writing studies of any language in the region, at all levels.
We are accepting full-length article manuscripts (7,000 words) and think pieces (3,500 words).
Book reviews of MENA region texts fitting the aims and scope of the journal, including multilingual texts on linguistics, composition, multiple literacies, and multiple ages are encouraged.
Translingual, transnational literacy narratives
We invite literacy narratives from both students and scholars highlighting the linguistic and composing processes engendered by translingual and transnational sponsors.
Please refer to the "Guidelines for Submission" to submit appropriately formatted documents with the cover sheet to menawritingstudies@aub.edu.lb.
Peer Review Process
In the initial stage, two editors review the submission to determine if the manuscript fits with the aims and scope of MENA Writing Studies and if it is suitable for further review. If the submission is not considered a good fit for the journal at this stage, the editors communicate the decision to the author(s) with a brief explanation.
In the second stage of review, the submission is shared with two reviewers who provide detailed comments and recommendations for publication. Reviewers consider the manuscript in its entirety and write a detailed response, including a decision to publish with minor revisions, revise and resubmit, revise and resubmit for further review; or do not publish.
In the final stage of review, the editors review the manuscript and the comments of all reviewers to arrive at a publication decision. The editor provides the author with a detailed letter explaining the publication decision. If the decision is to revise and resubmit, the revised manuscript will be reviewed by the editors one more time before a final publication decision is made.
