Chairperson’s Welcome Message

Radiation oncology stands at the intersection of precision and humanity. It can cure cancer, control its growth, and ease suffering. Yet the science is only part of the story. A cancer diagnosis changes everything — and we understand that walking through our doors takes courage. Our commitment to you is straightforward: you will be seen, heard, and cared for with the same attention and honesty we would want for our own family.

We are building a department organized around deep expertise — subspecialized teams who know their disease sites well, hold themselves to shared standards, and keep improving by learning from every patient we treat. Here, no single person carries your care alone. Behind every treatment plan is a team — physicians, physicists, therapists, and nurses — working together with specialists across medical oncology, surgery, radiology, pathology, and supportive care. What that means for you, in practice, is simple: your case is reviewed together, decisions are aligned, and the plan is coordinated. Just as importantly, we work to make your care easier to navigate, with clearer and more standardized pathways from consultation to treatment and fewer delays when time matters.

AUBMC carries a special responsibility in Lebanon. We take that seriously — not as an abstract obligation, but as a daily practice, patient by patient. Our department is home to several unique programs that reflect that role: Lebanon’s only ACGME-I–accredited Radiation Oncology residency program, the country’s only brachytherapy program, the only medical physics residency, the only radiation biology program, and the only adaptive radiotherapy platform (Ethos). Together, these efforts reflect a broader vision: bringing advanced technologies to our communities, training the next generation of clinicians, physicists, and scientists, expanding access to high-quality radiation therapy across the country and region, and building research programs that improve outcomes and patient experience.

Whether you are a patient seeking answers, a trainee looking for a place to grow, or a colleague hoping to build something meaningful together, we are glad you found us.
