The goal of the workshop series is to help you transition into university life, adapt to a constantly dynamic world, and effectively navigate your social, educational and career journeys. The workshop series schedule is shared in the brochure, and some workshops will be given before the start of the fall term.
The workshop series will cover the following topics:
Leadership in a Changing World:
The module will prepare you to manage change in dynamic settings with a focus on leadership essentials in an ambiguous world. It will also address the importance of collaboration, managing diversity, and gender imbalance in different settings. You will further learn the art of public speaking with an association to the method of liberal arts and how to “cook" texts into information, knowledge/wisdom, and persuasive argument. This skill will guide you in all humanities courses as well as in your employment tracks when you graduate.
Teamwork and Conflict Resolution:
The module will help you identify the role of implicit bias, group dynamics and interpersonal skills needed for productive teamwork. You will devise methods for conflict management with an awareness of cultural equity and diversity.
Time Management and Work-Life Balance:
You will build effective time management skills and understand the importance of work-life balance in homebound crises and in virtual work settings.
Major and Career exploration:
To encourage proactive major and career exploration, you will develop a career action plan based on self-assessment, build your personal brand, get matched with peer career mentors, and receive advice through pre-recorded videos from faculty and employers.
