  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. ISO 17025:2017 Accreditation

LEAF is accredited under the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for testing laboratories. This accreditation, granted by the Quality and Accreditation Institute (QAI) and recognized by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), attests to LEAF’s technical competence and commitment to the highest international standards of quality and reliability. The most recent accreditation, issued under Certificate No. QAI/CIA/TL/2025/0141 and CAB ID QAI-CIA-TL-2025-0154 are valid from October 3, 2025 until October 2, 2028. LEAF stands as one of Lebanon’s pioneering multidisciplinary laboratories, accredited for 337 parameters spanning water, wastewater, solid waste, and food matrices. This recognition reinforces LEAF’s role as a trusted national and regional reference laboratory dedicated to generating precise, traceable, and internationally credible analytical results.

ILAC is the international organisation for accreditation bodies operating in accordance with ISO/IEC 17011 and involved in the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies including calibration laboratories (using ISO/IEC 17025), testing laboratories (using ISO/IEC 17025), medical testing laboratories (using ISO 15189), inspection bodies (using ISO/IEC 17020), proficiency testing providers (using ISO/IEC 17043) and reference material producers (using ISO 17034).
