  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

  AUB is accredited in the US by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and includes six faculties: Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Architecture, Agricultural and Food Sciences, Health Sciences, and Business. AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

Engage with the Office of the Provost

The Office of the Provost at AUB organizes regular events to engage with faculty members virtually and in person in an open dialogue that strengthens connections across the university. The (online) University Forum (U- Forum) and the “Let's Talk AUB" in-person sessions provide opportunities to share ideas, discuss academic priorities, and shape the university's vision and institutional growth.

Let’s Talk AUB

Occasional in-person and informal sessions with faculty members across campus – a chance to connect and chat over coffee and cookies. All faculty members are welcome.

U-Forum

The U-Forum initiative was launched in October 2022. It is a series of virtual meetings that the Office of the Provost organizes to share updates and information about academic affairs with faculty members. The agenda for each U-Forum is announced in advance and includes brief presentations followed by an open Q&A. The office welcomes suggestions for topics to be addressed at future U-Forum meetings via this form
