Important Update: MCAT Policy and Admission Cycle Calendar

Dear Premedical Students,

Last year, The American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine updated its admission cycle calendar, such that the entire process would begin at least six weeks earlier than in previous years, allowing applicants to receive admissions decisions, financial aid status, and merit scholarship eligibility by early February, nearly two months earlier than before. This adjustment provides applicants with timely information to make well-informed choices about joining AUB or considering offers from other institutions. As a direct result of this revised timeline, MCAT scores from January test dates are no longer accepted. This policy was implemented beginning with the 2025–2026 cycle and will remain in effect for the current 2026–2027 cycle and all future admission cycles. Applicants must therefore plan to take the MCAT no later than the last MCAT session of the preceding year.

Please note that no exceptions will be granted for applicants who miss this deadline. The only circumstances that may be considered are: (1) A verified technical or administrative error on the part of the AAMC that prevented the student from sitting for the exam, or (2) A documented acute illness occurring during the exam. In both cases, official written confirmation from the AAMC is required, and the students should be taking the MCAT for the first time. Only under these conditions will applicants be permitted to submit MCAT scores from the January 2026 administration, and no later.

We strongly encourage all prospective applicants to plan ahead and register for an MCAT administration well before January to ensure their scores are eligible for consideration.
