  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Series

In line with the aims of the chair at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan series seeks to publish research focusing on the study of Islamic religious thought, Quranic studies, Belles-Lettres, Sufism, history, literature, grammar, lexicography, philology, law, art, and other aspects of the Arabic-Islamic civilization.

The two main focuses of research under the series are:

Arabic and Islamic Texts and Studies
Art in the Arab and Islamic Worlds

Comics & Graphic Narratives from the Arab World

The Comics & Graphic Narratives from the Arab World series focuses on publishing historical and analytical studies on comics and visual narratives from the region. The aim is to contribute to the growing research within this field centering on and about graphic narratives from the region, by the region.
