The Speed of Moth: Drawing Workshop and Exhibition with Shawki Youssef

An intensive drawing workshop and exhibition took place at AUB Rose and Shaheen Saleeby Museum of Art. AUB faculty member and dedicated painter, Shawki Youssef, taught us how to extract a drawing from a blank and damaged canvas. The workshop participants worked with 277 blank canvases deteriorated by time and storage conditions. In this 16-hour art marathon, Youssef guided, led, and inspired—he equipped us with tools and confidence to address the deteriorated canvases and the current state of affairs in the world. The AUB galleries provided all necessary materials. The workshop outcome led to an exhibition.
