The Environment and Sustainable Development Unit (ESDU) at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (FAFS) of the American University of Beirut (AUB) is calling for your support through its Keepers of the Land fundraising campaign.
This campaign was launched in 2016 to support matriculated students, farmers, youth, and women in agriculture, giving them the tools, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive where they belong: on their land, and in the country they love, building their future here in Lebanon.
ABOUT ESDU
The Environment and Sustainable Development Unit (ESDU), a research and development center at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at AUB, has been caring for Lebanon’s “roots” for more than 20 years. Through the Keepers of the Land fund, ESDU offers training and support to help women farmers, students, and youth make a living while preserving local natural resources for future generations. Over the years, ESDU has benefited more than 110 graduate and undergraduate students, interns, and researchers, as well as around 100,000 community members, 12 percent of whom are women, promoting the sustainable livelihoods of small-scale farmers and producers, agri-food cooperatives, and small businesses.
“Hidden somewhere deep inside, we are all Keepers of the Land. We want you to revive the keeper inside you!"
Shady Hamadeh, ESDU Executive Director
