Ms. Beth B. Johnston is a Healthcare Consultant. Most recently she served as the Special Advisor to the CEO at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and continues to provide consulting services to several national firms, specializing in academic medicine, physician group governance, management and compensation, funds flow and access. Ms. Johnston also served as Executive Director and Chief Executive of the Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania from 2004 to 2020. In that role, she was responsible for overseeing the operations of the University of Pennsylvania faculty practice plan, consisting of 18 clinical Departments with 2,200+ faculty members, 3,300 staff, 150+ practice sites, a $460M research portfolio, and annual total operating revenues of $1.7B. Prior to her role at CPUP, she was from 1999 - 2004 Vice President, Professional Services at Pennsylvania Hospital and from 1996 - 1999 Associate Vice President, Physician Recruitment and Retention at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Ms. Johnston is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a Masters of Health Service Administration ('83) and a Bachelor of Science, Biology ('79).
