A trustee since 2014 and an AUB graduate (BArch '74), Mutaz Sawaf is the Chairman of the Maymouna Holding Company, which invests in projects in the fields of construction, health, food, and textiles, while also managing charitable work. He is a longtime leader in construction and development, he has managed and executed many important projects located in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, and Morocco. An accomplished illustrator, Mr. Sawaf obtained a certification in animation from the Bob Godfrey studio, London in 1975. Established in 2022 and inaugurated in 2023 he provided the necessary financial support for the 'Rada and Mu'taz Sawaf Center for Arab Comics Studies' at AUB. In partnership with AGFUND, Mr. Sawaf also helped found “Ibdaa," a non-profit microfinance bank network serving families in Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and Mauritania. Mr. Sawaf serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the International College Beirut (since 2015) and Dar Al Aytam (since 2022).
